About History Explained

History Explained is an independent explainer site. It covers ancient, medieval, early modern and modern history, plus the people and scientific ideas that shaped them. Each article is written to explain how things worked and why they changed, not just what happened.

Accuracy comes first. Articles rely on well-established scholarship, mark uncertainty and debate where it exists, and avoid invented quotes or statistics. Corrections are welcome, and we will update any article when better evidence or a clear error is pointed out.
